Date:

Aave V4 mainnet deployment has achieved a significant milestone with overwhelming support from the Aave DAO. The focus keyword ‘Aave V4 mainnet’ is central to this development as the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) voted nearly unanimously in favor of deploying the V4 protocol on the Ethereum mainnet.

Aave V4 Mainnet: A Turning Point in Protocol Strategy

On Monday, Aave’s community showcased strong alignment, casting over 645,000 votes in favor, with less than one vote opposing the proposal. The absence of abstentions highlights a unified community move toward formalizing V4’s deployment. This decision marks a pivotal shift from previous governance tensions and contributor departures.

Understanding Aave V4’s Modular Architecture

Proposed by Aave Labs on March 19, Aave V4 introduces a modular architecture designed to innovate on-chain credit markets. This design separates liquidity from market-specific risk through shared liquidity pools, known as ‘Hubs,’ and defines borrowing environments, or ‘Spokes,’ with tailored risk parameters.

This structure aims to broaden financial use cases, supporting assets with varying risk profiles and maturities while maintaining unified liquidity. Aave Labs emphasizes that V4 allows for new collateral types and structured credit markets to emerge.

Governance Dynamics: A New Era for Aave

The strong backing for Aave V4 follows a period of governance challenges. In February, BGD Labs, a key technical contributor, exited the DAO due to disagreements over organizational scenarios. Similarly, the Aave Chan Initiative announced its departure, citing concerns over governance standards and voting dynamics.

Despite these exits, the near-unanimous vote for V4 reflects a renewed alignment within the community, underscoring broad support for the protocol’s strategic advancement.

Stani Kulechov, Aave’s founder, noted that the proposal is expected to proceed to an Aave Improvement Proposal (AIP) vote, a binding on-chain vote crucial for deploying and activating V4 on Ethereum.
