“Discussions with confirmed World ID holders are marked by a blue chat bubble and a distinctive World ID gem in the top right corner,” stated the Tools for Humanity-led initiative in a recent blog post. “Plus, the seamless integration of World Chat with the World App wallet means that sending and receiving crypto globally is as simple as sharing a photo.”

Despite user statistics that don’t yet rival China’s leading super app WeChat or Elon Musk’s social platform X, which is set to introduce peer-to-peer payments, the World App’s new features are expanding the potential of the crypto app, available on both iOS and Android devices.

“Developers on the World Network can now weave World Chat into their Mini App, enabling users to conveniently invite and chat with friends without ever departing from the World App,” the project announced on Thursday.

The World App currently boasts over 24 million users, with more than 11 million verified as humans. Previously known as Worldcoin, the project, co-founded by Altman, who is also the renowned CEO of OpenAI, has garnered much interest. The initiative’s offer of free crypto in return for users verifying their humanity via an eye scan has drawn particular scrutiny.
