In a bid to maintain compliance and integrity in its marketplace, Binance has declared the delisting of five altcoins—Stella ALPHAUSDT, Biswap BSWUSDT, Komodo KMDUSDT, LeverFi LEVERUSDT, and LTO Network LTOUSDT. The removal will take effect on July 4, 2025, following a systematic evaluation by Binance.

Binance conducts regular assessments of projects for their development activities, transparency, trading volume, and their resilience to regulatory scrutiny. This announcement, made during Asia’s trading hours, led to a rapid sell-off, resulting in traders hastily exiting their positions.

Implications for Altcoin Owners

Starting from 06:00 AM UTC on July 4, the trading of ALPHA, BSW, KMD, LEVER, and LTO on Binance will be ceased. All open orders will be cancelled, and remaining tokens will be returned to users’ spot wallets. Traders have until then to relocate their holdings, either by transferring to different exchanges or storing tokens in private wallets. The impact on users engaged in derivatives or flexible earn products linked to these tokens will depend on the specific trading pairs, but most related services will also be discontinued.

This development has raised concerns among the affected token communities who now face the task of shifting trading activity to other platforms. For investors, this situation prompts a reevaluation of their investment strategies regarding these projects.

Following the announcement, the five tokens experienced mixed reactions. Some registered losses while others remained green.

Binance’s Decision-Making Process

Binance is refining its listing standards behind the scenes to better comply with international regulations and ensure investor safety. The exchange now applies a more comprehensive framework when evaluating tokens, considering factors such as team engagement, technical advancement, liquidity, network security, and ethical practices. Any significant red flags, such as sudden team changes or unexpected supply increases, can instigate a review and potential delisting.

With this, Binance sends a clear message that it will not accommodate weak or non-transparent projects. This strategy not only safeguards users but also drives the industry towards better standards. In a world where regulatory bodies are keeping a close eye, Binance’s updated rules are expected to shape how other major exchanges handle their listings.

Key Dates and User Actions

Users are advised to close any open trades involving the tokens slated for delisting before July 4, 2025, and consider transferring their assets to other trading pairs. As these tokens’ deposits may be suspended without significant notice, it is crucial to keep an eye on Binance’s official updates. The exchange also confirmed its commitment to continue refining its listing and delisting criteria.

The Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC), the country’s primary financial regulator, is intensifying its stance against inactive <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>cryptocurrency exchanges. These exchanges are being urged to update their operations or risk being delisted in an effort to combat <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto scams and money laundering activities that could potentially exploit these dormant listings.

There appears to be a significant number of inactive <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>Digital Currency Exchanges (DCEs) amidst the 427 registered entities. AUSTRAC has issued a stern warning to these dormant exchanges, urging them to update their details promptly or face removal from the register.

The plan was divulged on AUSTRAC’s government website, stating the existence of several inactive DCEs. These exchanges were given the option to either voluntarily withdraw or face delisting. AUSTRAC voiced concerns over the potential misuse of inactive DCEs by scammers for illicit activities like money laundering. The regulator further emphasized the need for DCEs to stay current with their registration processes and announced plans to generate a public list of registered DCEs to help consumers avoid scams.

Brendan Thomas, AUSTRAC’s CEO, reiterated the importance of businesses updating their details as part of the registration process. He cautioned that failure to do so could lead to delisting. He stressed the importance of maintaining consumer trust and averting the misuse of DCEs. According to him, inactivity could be a valid ground for canceling a registration.

AUSTRAC’s responsibilities include the analysis of business intelligence to curb scam activities in Australia. The agency regards digital assets as a high-risk market and hence focuses a great deal of attention on them. AUSTRAC has observed a concerning surge in <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto scams, necessitating more proactive measures to avert catastrophic outcomes.

All Australian businesses intending to facilitate conversions between cash and <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto must register with AUSTRAC. The agency oversees these DCEs to detect money laundering, tax evasion, and terror financing. AUSTRAC reserves the right to delist any business identified with discrepancies.

This recent announcement builds on AUSTRAC’s previous measures, including the February 2025 crackdown on illegitimate <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto businesses, involving 13 financial institutions and over 50 <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto businesses. The operation targeted businesses that underreported or failed to report their activities, with AUSTRAC deciding which businesses warranted further legal action.

Popular <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has announced its plans to align with European digital currency regulations by preparing to delist five stablecoins, including Tether’s <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>USDt. The full delisting of <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>USDt USDTUSD will take place on March 31, as a part of the company’s compliance with the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), as stated in an official announcement by the exchange.

Besides <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>USDT, Kraken will also gradually withdraw support for PayPal USD (PYUSD), Tether EURt (EURT), TrueUSD (TUSD), and TerraClassicUSD (UST) in the European market. The exchange states that these changes are aimed at ensuring long-term compliance and continuing to offer exceptional trading experiences to European clients.

In accordance with the guidelines set by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), Kraken plans a phased delisting process. Initially, by February 13, margin pairs involving the affected assets will be set to “reduce-only” for European Economic Area (EEA) clients. Consequently, EEA users will only be able to reduce or completely close out existing margin positions.

By February 27, the impacted tokens will be put in a “sell-only” mode, preventing EEA clients from generating deposit addresses for tokens like <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>USDT, while still allowing trading. On March 24, Kraken will cease all spot trading for the affected assets, closing all open orders and conversions into other coins or fiat currencies.

Kraken has specified that these delistings will only impact clients in the EEA, including 30 countries such as Austria, Cyprus, Czechia, Malta, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and others. The move follows similar actions by Crypto.com and Coinbase, underlining the increasing compliance requirements within the European Union.

Cessation of Margin Trading Binance will cease margin trading for OMG, WAVES, WNXM, and XEM at 06:00 UTC on 2024-06-12. Users are advised to transfer these tokens from their margin wallets to their spot wallets and top up their margin balance before the deadline to avoid liquidation risks.

Portfolio Margin Users Portfolio margin users should monitor the Unified Maintenance Margin Ratio (UniMMR) closely. Binance will automatically convert all OMG, WAVES, WNXM, and XEM balances in cross margin wallets under the portfolio margin account to <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>USDT from 06:00 UTC on 2024-06-12. This conversion process may take approximately 24 hours or longer.

Binance Convert and Gift Card Binance Convert will delist these tokens and all associated pairs at 03:00 UTC on 2024-06-11. Similarly, Binance Gift Card will delist these tokens at 03:00 UTC on 2024-06-17. Users are encouraged to manage their gift cards containing these tokens in advance.

Binance Pay Binance Pay will also delist these tokens at 03:00 UTC on 2024-06-12. Users should update or cancel their trading bots before the cessation to avoid potential losses.

Trading Bots Services Binance will terminate trading bots services for these spot trading pairs at 03:00 UTC on 2024-06-17. Users are strongly advised to update and/or cancel their trading bots prior to the cessation of trading bots services.

Our Experience At CryptoUpdate.io, we personally lost $10,000 due to this delisting on our 2-year WAVES long position on futures. This action raises significant concerns about Binance’s trustworthiness. To be considered a reliable exchange, Binance should allow clients with open positions on delisted pairs to maintain those positions until they choose to close them. Instead, Binance forces the closure of these positions, often at a loss, which appears to benefit the exchange financially. This situation raises serious questions about the exchange’s integrity and client-focused practices.

Key Points to Remember:

A trading pair’s removal doesn’t impact the token’s presence on Binance Spot. Traders can still engage with the base and quote assets via other available trading pairs on Binance.

By September 29th, 03:00 (UTC), Spot Trading Bots services for the delisting pairs will end. To steer clear of potential losses, ensure to modify or terminate your Spot Trading Bots accordingly.

We recommend converting your <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>BUSD assets on Binance before February 2024. Avail the option to exchange your <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>BUSD for FDUSD at zero trading charges, or shift your <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>BUSD to FDUSD on a 1:1 ratio via our conversion portal.

Important Delisting Information Attention to all <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto enthusiasts and Binance users! For ensuring optimal trading experiences and in line with our regular review process, Binance Margin is set to delist several isolated margin pairs, including 1INCH/<a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>BUSD, AERGO/<a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>BUSD, and more, effective from 2023-09-28 06:00 (UTC).

Timeline and Actions to Take

By 2023-09-22 06:00 (UTC), isolated margin borrowing for the mentioned pairs will be halted.

On 2023-09-28 06:00 (UTC), all open positions in these pairs will be auto-settled, and any pending orders will be canceled, post which these pairs will be removed from Isolated Margin.

Advisory for Users Traders will not have the option to modify positions during the delisting. It’s vital to either close your positions or shift your assets from Margin Wallets to Spot Wallets before margin trading ends on 2023-09-28 06:00 (UTC). We urge users to act responsibly, as Binance won’t bear any losses that might arise.
