Ledger IPO is poised to take the <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto world by storm, as the Paris-based <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto security company sets its sights on a public offering in the United States. This move could see Ledger valued at more than $4 billion, a testament to its significant impact on the <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto security landscape.

The renowned hardware wallet manufacturer is collaborating with financial powerhouses Goldman Sachs, Jefferies, and Barclays to navigate this monumental deal, which might happen as early as this year.

Rising Demand for <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>Crypto Security

According to CEO Pascal Gauthier, the demand for enhanced <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto security solutions has never been higher, particularly from investors who prioritize safeguarding their digital assets. This surge in interest propelled Ledger to reach record-breaking revenues in 2025, achieving triple-digit million-dollar figures.

Since its inception in 2014, Ledger has sold over 7 million devices globally, solidifying its reputation as a leading provider of hardware wallets.

Strategic Move to New York

Gauthier highlighted that “money is in New York today for <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto,” underscoring the strategic decision to list in the United States rather than Europe. This choice aligns with the broader trend of <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto companies seeking to capitalize on the favorable regulatory environment and market enthusiasm in the U.S.

Ledger’s planned IPO follows a wave of digital asset companies going public, especially after President Donald Trump’s administration prioritized digital assets as a national strategic focus.

Trailblazers in the Market

Recently, <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto custodian BitGo made headlines by becoming the first digital asset IPO of 2026, trading on the New York Stock Exchange. This move was preceded by stablecoin issuer Circle and exchanges Gemini and Bullish, all of which went public in the U.S. in 2025.

Ledger’s previous funding round in 2023, which elevated its valuation to $1.5 billion, included significant investments from True Global Ventures and 10T Holdings, signaling strong confidence in its future growth.

The Ledger IPO symbolizes not just a major milestone for the company but also a pivotal moment for the <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto security sector, as investors and stakeholders anticipate the next phase of its evolution.

With the U.S. market’s strategic importance in the <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto space, Ledger’s IPO is expected to further cement its position as a leader in <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto security solutions.

XRP Payments have witnessed an unexpected surge, marking a 30% spike on the XRP Ledger. This remarkable increase has surprised many in the <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto community, as it did not coincide with a significant price movement. According to XRPScan, the network recently handled over 1,050,000 transactions in a single day, a jump from the previous day’s figures by approximately 200,000 payments.

Understanding the XRP Payments Surge

The sudden rise in XRP payments occurred without a corresponding breakout in price. On the daily chart, XRP remains trapped within a descending channel, with lower highs and lower lows marking the trend. Prices fluctuated between $2.19 and $2.22, indicating market hesitation rather than a definitive trend shift.

Technical indicators, including the 50-, 100-, and 200-day moving averages, continue their downward trajectory, confirming a prevailing bearish outlook. Volume levels have also stayed muted, further highlighting the lack of significant market movement.

Causes Behind the XRP Payments Spike

Historical analysis of XRP Ledger shows that large increases in payments typically stem from two primary activities: automated or institutional systems rebalancing liquidity routes and spikes in retail-level activity linked to payment rails or bot systems testing network throughput.

The recent surge in payments aligns more with institutional routing or automated processes rather than natural investor participation. The lack of corresponding changes in spot volume or futures positioning supports this view. While funding rates are slightly bullish, there hasn’t been enough growth in open interest to suggest significant speculation.

Market Implications

Despite the lack of price reaction, this surge in XRP payments highlights the underlying network’s robust usage. However, this alone does not signal a market reversal. For XRP to break free from its bearish structure, it would need to reclaim at least $2.33 and subsequently surpass the trendline around $2.45 to $2.50.

From a market perspective, this move demonstrates the ongoing real-world application of the XRP network, even when market prices remain static. It underscores the importance of differentiating between network activity and market speculation.

Investors and analysts should closely monitor these metrics, as they provide valuable insights into the network’s health and potential future price movements.

Hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger, has reestablished secure operations on its Discord server following an incident where a hacker attempted to extract seed phrases by exploiting a compromised moderator account. This incident occurred on May 11th, with the attacker utilizing the breached account to disseminate scam links, tricking users into unveiling their seed phrases on a third-party site.

“A moderator under contract had their account hacked, which enabled a malicious bot to post scam links in one of our channels,” Ledger associate, Quintin Boatwright, shared on the Ledger Discord server. “The issue was swiftly addressed: the breached account was deleted, the bot was eliminated, the website was reported, and all requisite permissions were scrutinized and safeguarded.”

Some members of Ledger’s Discord channel reported that the attacker, exploiting moderator privileges, banned and silenced them when they tried to report the breach. This may have delayed Ledger’s response. However, Boatwright reassured that this security breach was a singular occurrence and that Ledger has implemented additional measures to fortify its Discord server security.

Using the compromised Ledger community manager account, the hacker informed Ledger Discord members of a recently discovered flaw in the company’s security systems. He then strongly encouraged all users to validate their recovery phrases using a fraudulent link. Screenshots of this activity were shared on X. Ledger users were instructed to connect their wallets and follow the instructions provided on-screen. The impact of this security breach remains unclear.

In a related event last month, scammers sent physical letters to Ledger hardware wallet owners, requesting them to authenticate their private seed phrases in an attempt to gain access and drain the wallets. These letters, bearing the Ledger logo, business address, and a reference number, were intended to appear legitimate and instructed users to scan a QR code and input their wallet’s recovery phrase.

Following a data leak in July 2020, where a hacker breached Ledger’s database exposing the personal information of over 270,000 customers, there were speculations that the scammers might be targeting the affected Ledger customers. The leaked data included names, phone numbers, and residential addresses. The subsequent year, several Ledger users reported receiving tampered Ledger devices in the mail that were designed to install malware upon usage.

This followed an incident where a hacker temporarily seized control of the community through a compromised moderator account. The attacker reportedly tricked users into providing their seed phrases on an external site and suppressed users who tried to warn others about the scam, as per findings from X.

“A malicious bot infiltrated our server through one of our contracted moderator’s compromised account and posted scam links in one channel,” Quintin Boatwright, a Ledger team member, explained on the company’s server. “We promptly addressed the issue by removing the compromised account, deleting the bot, reporting the website, and fortifying all relevant permissions.”

Apart from this, Ledger customers recently experienced another scam where they received physical letters instructing them to “verify” their devices by inputting their seed phrases on a particular site. These letters even had Ledger’s official logo, and the information seems to have been sourced from Ledger’s database breach in 2020.

“We’ve implemented additional measures to strengthen our Discord security,” Boatwright further stated. “Avoid entering your recovery phrase or linking your wallet through a Discord link.”

The scam site was reportedly deactivated as of Sunday morning.

Ledger’s Ian Rogers, on the other hand, warns that the tug of war between <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto security improvements and hacker ingenuity will persist indefinitely.

Cathie Wood Initiates El Salvador’s AI Public Education Program

Cathie Wood, the founder of Ark Invest, is taking the lead in El Salvador’s AI education initiative by providing the maiden lecture for this public education venture. The <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>Bitcoin Office of El Salvador announced on March 23rd that the program aims to utilize industry experts to offer university-level artificial intelligence education to students and professionals, making it the only national education scheme to do so.

Wood met with Nayib Bukele, President of El Salvador, to discuss the future of <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto and AI policy in the nation. Wood suggested that with a continued emphasis on pro-innovation policies, El Salvador could potentially boost its GDP tenfold in the next five years.

<a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>Bitcoin analysts are monitoring the weekly close to predict <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>Bitcoin’s price trajectory for the upcoming week, as both traditional and <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto markets exhibit uncertainty due to global trade war concerns and easing inflation fears.

Ryan Lee, chief analyst at Bitget Research, indicates that <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>Bitcoin’s price might face more downside next week unless it can close the week above the psychological benchmark of $85,000. A close above this point could prevent a drop to $76,000 and signal strength, while a close at $87,000 could offer even clearer bullish confirmation.

As <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>cryptocurrency wallet providers advance their techniques, so too do malicious actors. Ledger’s chief experience officer, Ian Rogers, warns that this creates a perpetual ‘cat and mouse’ game between security advancements and ever-evolving threats.

Rogers observes that the most basic scams often prove most effective as they prey on human error. He warns against sharing 24-word phrases with anyone, as this is a common tactic employed by criminals. Rogers also highlighted a prevalent <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto scam where victims are lured by responses to any crypto-related post on Twitter, often encouraging a direct message for ‘help’.

As reported by Cointelegraph, the ongoing struggle between cybercriminals and <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto wallet providers continues to escalate. According to a top executive from a prominent hardware wallet company, this conflict is in a perpetual standoff, with both sides constantly evolving their tactics.

“This is an unending game of cat and mouse,” states Ian Rogers, the Chief Experience Officer at Ledger, when discussing the relentless pursuit between <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto wallet companies introducing new security measures and hackers devising more sophisticated methods to breach victims’ wallets.

Rogers laments that the simplest scams often yield the best results, as they exploit users’ common mistakes. “Every day, people give away their 24-word phrases. As long as that continues, scammers will opt for the least expensive attack,” he warns, stressing, “If someone asks for your 24 words, they’re a criminal.”

Rogers points out a frequent <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto scam where unsuspecting victims are lured into responding to replies under any crypto-related Twitter post. These messages typically read, “Direct message me, I can assist you.”

He warns, “You must remember, scammers are always attempting to get your 24 words.” Jason Jiang, CertiK’s Chief Business Officer, recently shared with Cointelegraph that a heightened awareness of phishing attacks on social media can significantly boost a user’s <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto security.

In a more sinister turn, scammers sometimes compromise the accounts of influential industry figures to post malicious links, making it increasingly difficult for users to identify the scam. In September 2023, a fraudulent NFT giveaway was conducted through the compromised account of Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, resulting in over $691,000 drained from followers’ wallets.

Rogers underscores that such threats will persist, just as scams are not exclusive to the <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto world. He recalls the infamous “Nigerian president” email scams that have been around for years. “The cost of the attack always matches the potential reward,” Rogers notes. In 2024, crypto-related hacks surged by 15% from the previous year, totaling over $3 billion in stolen assets.

Meanwhile, a new threat known as ‘pig butchering’ scams has surfaced as a major concern for <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto investors. This complex phishing ploy has tricked investors into voluntarily transferring their assets to scam <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto addresses, resulting in a staggering loss of $5.5 billion across 200,000 identified cases on the Ethereum network in 2024 alone.

On March 5, Trezor, a leading provider of <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto hardware wallets, unveiled a theoretical vulnerability in its older Safe 3 wallet model. The disclosure came in response to a tip-off from its main competitor, Ledger. Trezor’s vulnerability is largely academic and would likely only impact users who procured their device from a third party.

Later in the week, Ledger provided more detailed information regarding the exploit, explaining how the extremely technical attack could be executed. Donjon, Ledger’s security division based in Paris, reutilized a recognized “physical supply chain attack” and discovered that Trezor’s Safe 3 model, released in 2023, remains unsecure.

“Ledger Donjon recently assessed our Trezor Safe Family and successfully employed a previously known attack to show how some countermeasures against supply chain attacks in Trezor Safe 3 can be circumvented,” stated Trezor.

However, it’s important to note that the majority of Trezor’s wallets, especially its most recent release, Trezor Safe 5, and its first two generations, Trezor Model One and Model T, are not affected by this attack. The exploit also relies on a specific set of circumstances and a high degree of expertise, making it an unlikely method for widespread exploitation. Consequently, Trezor does not advise immediate action from Safe 3 users, especially those who purchased the device from official sources.

The attack demonstrated by Donjon takes advantage of a weakness in the microcontroller of Trezor Safe 3 using a technique called voltage glitching. If an attacker can physically access the device, desolder the microcontroller, and apply specific voltage changes, they can trick the device into disclosing its flash memory contents. This would then allow the attacker to load the microcontroller with malicious software, possibly revealing the wallet’s seed phrase and accessing the stored funds.

Staying secure in this environment involves purchasing devices directly from manufacturers and ensuring the wallet’s chain-of-custody. Users also need to use a longer PIN to make exploitation more challenging and always update their devices to the latest firmware version. Most importantly, users must always verify whether they are interacting with the application or entity they think they are.

As Ledger CTO Charles Guillemet puts it, “Our mission at Ledger Donjon is to push the boundaries of security for the benefit of the whole <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto ecosystem. We appreciate Trezor’s responsiveness to this responsible security disclosure.”

The XRP Ledger recently faced a roughly 64-minute transaction stoppage, triggering a heated debate amongst critics and supporters regarding the seriousness of the situation. The halt, which took place late last Tuesday, paused at ledger height 93,927,173.

Some regarded this hour-long interruption as a consensus failure, exposing the network to potential coordinated attacks and criticizing the perceived centralization among a handful of trusted validators. Daniel Keller, CTO of blockchain infrastructure firm Eminence, responded to these concerns by stating that the halt was a part of the design to maintain ledger integrity. He admitted, “There are tradeoffs with every solution. Pausing until a solution is found is one of them.”

Keller did concede that the situation wasn’t ideal and that the network failed to reach a consensus on a specific ledger. This failure prevented the creation of a new ledger. He assured, “There is something wrong, we will have to figure out what and fix it.”

The XRP Ledger includes a halt as a result of its consensus mechanism. If over 20% of the network’s UNL validators disagree, the system temporarily halts to prevent issues like double-spending and ledger inconsistencies. This safety procedure allows for automatic recovery once validators synchronize their UNLs, Ripple CTO David Schwartz explained in 2021.

Even though the XRP Ledger boasts more than 200 validators in total, a much smaller number of validators participate in the consensus process on Unique Node Lists (UNLs). The XRPL Foundation recommends a UNL with at least 35 validators. In comparison, Ethereum has over 1 million active validators, and <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>Bitcoin’s network consists of at least 65,000 nodes and thousands of miners globally.

<a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>Bitcoin and Ethereum have experienced downtime due to value overflow incidents and network splits in the past. Other blockchain networks like Solana, TON, Avalanche, and Sui have also faced outages or disruptions.

David Schwartz, CTO of XRPL developer Ripple, confirmed that the network had recovered and that transactions were processing as usual. The root cause, however, remains unknown. Schwartz assured users that no assets on the XRPL were lost as a result of the incident. He stated, “It just caused ledgers not to be seen as trusted for about an hour.”

Despite the incident, XRP has gained around 4% since the recovery, even though it is currently down by 2.7% over the past 24 hours, according to The Block’s XRP Price Page.
