Latvian airline airBaltic will now accept a wider range of cryptocurrencies for payment, Simple Flying reports. According to the source, the airline was the first to start accepting <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536><a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>Bitcoin as a payment method back in 2014. Now, customers of the company will be able to pay for products and services in other <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto assets. These include Ethereum (ETH), <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536><a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Dogecoin (<a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>DOGE), and four stablecoins, including Gemini <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>Dollar (GUSD), USD Coin (USDC), Binance USD (<a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>BUSD), and Paxos Standard Token (PAX). The move was possible thanks to the partnership with BitPay.

<a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536><a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as payment methods are gaining wider acceptance in the travel industry. Travel booking website Travala.com accepts over 30 types of cryptocurrencies for products and services on its website. It has recently become the first merchant to integrate with Binance’s payment technology Binance Pay. In addition, using Travala, users can also book over 700,000 hotels from Expedia Group.

However, the use of <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto for payments among airlines is still not widespread. Apart from airBaltic, LOT Polish Airlines also accepts payments in Bitcoin since 2015. Norwegian Air also revealed in 2020 that the <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto trading platform Norwegian Block Exchange (NBX) developed a payment infrastructure to allow airline customers to pay with digital currencies.

Binance’s payments platform <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>Binance Pay has added new functions like the Pay and merchants. Per the company’s blog post, the Pay feature aims to promote <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto adoption by making it easier and more secure for clients to use cryptocurrencies for payments. The platform supports over 30 digital assets. Moreover, users can move their funds as they wish between <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>Binance Pay and their <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>Binance wallets.

In addition, according to the blog post, the technology features a Merchant API. It enables both online and offline merchants to accept <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto payments. One of the online merchants, travel agency Travala, has integrated <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>Binance Pay on its platform last month. It became the first merchant to do so.

Binance Pay is a payments technology that allows users to send and receive <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto to and from users all around the world. It is available for clients who registered on the website of the <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>cryptocurrency exchange <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>Binance.com and completed the identity verification process. The payments platform had a quiet release of its beta version in February this year. It was initially available only for peer-to-peer transactions and supported six cryptocurrencies.

Another <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>cryptocurrency exchange also launched a payment service this month. Bitfinex, the fifth-largest exchange on CoinMarketCap.com, announced the launch of Bitfinex Pay. Their service can be placed as a widget on a merchant’s website to allow <a class="lar-automated-link" href="https://accounts.binance.com/register?ref=42224911" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" 4536>crypto payments.
