XRP recently reclaimed its third place in market cap after a significant multi-month increase, while XLM surged by almost 90% within a week, reaching its highest price since January. Here’s what the AIs had to say about Ripple’s native token, XRP.

ChatGPT highlighted several factors that could potentially drive XRP to the top. These include large-scale partnerships akin to those recently established with major banks like SBI and Santander. The AI also pointed to the active use of RippleNet’s On-Demand Liquidity protocol, which gives XRP an edge over the competition. Furthermore, XRP is seen as a bridge asset for cross-border payments on an institutional scale, which could positively impact its future price movements.

The AI also mentioned the possible approval of spot XRP ETFs in the US as a significant advantage for Ripple’s token against Stellar’s XLM. Why Might XLM Lose?

While the AIs did not entirely discount XLM, they seemed convinced that XRP would outperform Stellar’s token this year. They noted that although Stellar has not been involved in any legal disputes like Ripple, it lacks “explicit regulatory clarity”, which hampers its progress. Furthermore, XLM doesn’t have the same level of “institutional legal defense or presence” and is not as visible as XRP. The AI chatbot also noted that XLM is “more focused on retail remittances and humanitarian aid,” which, while practical, are “smaller-scale use cases in terms of transaction volume.”

Although XLM saw a significant surge recently, it is less than 40% up this year as it entered 2025 at approximately $0.32. It remains 50% away from its all-time high, which was set in January 2018. In comparison, XRP’s YTD gains are similar (34%) as it entered the new year at $2.08 and is now just over $2.8. Its ATH was also set in January 2018 at $3.4, but XRP managed to match it this year. This could be seen as one of the few advantages XLM has over XRP, as it has more room for growth.

In conclusion, the AIs don’t see much chance for Stellar’s token to outperform XRP in 2025. As Perplexity put it, “Stellar (XLM) is likely to see steady growth but is not expected to match XRP’s performance unless it achieves a major breakthrough in adoption or technology.”

After a small pullback, Bitcoin initiated an even more impressive surge, peaking at $116,000 on Thursday evening, before touching nearly $119,000 on Friday morning. Although it has since lost some momentum and currently trades just below $118,000, Bitcoin has seen a weekly growth of over 9%. The market capitalization of Bitcoin has increased to $2.345 trillion, even though its dominance over altcoins has slightly decreased to 62.5%.

Meanwhile, most altcoins have also seen substantial gains in the past few days. For instance, Ethereum jumped from $2,500 to over $3,000, marking a five-month high, before slightly correcting below the latter. XRP, initially slow, made headlines yesterday with a surge to almost $3, and despite a fall to below $2.8, it’s still up 7% for the day, surpassing USDT in market cap.

CRO also saw a significant price increase, rising well over $0.1. However, the star of the day was XLM, soaring by over 22% and currently trading above $0.37. In contrast, Pi Network’s native token dipped by over 6% and is struggling to stay above $0.47.

The total market cap of all cryptocurrencies has added over $300 billion since Wednesday, currently standing at an impressive $3.750 trillion.

The setup phase involves the counting of either red or green candles (indicating price movement) up to nine. These candles don’t necessarily have to be sequential. Once the ninth candle appears on the chart, the TD Sequential signals a potential reversal. The countdown phase begins after the setup, where candles are counted up to thirteen. Upon completion, another potential turnaround point is assumed.

The direction of the price post-TD Sequential signal depends on the colour of the candle that completes the phase. Green candles usually imply a forthcoming correction, while red ones indicate a bullish reversal.

Recently, XRP completed the setup phase of the TD Sequential on its 1-hour price chart, as depicted by the chart shared by the analyst. The pattern shows a setup completion with nine red candles, suggesting that XRP’s price may have reached a bottom and a bullish reversal might be imminent.

However, as this buy signal has appeared on a short timeframe (1-hour), the resulting price surge may not be very significant. It’s also interesting to note that XRP isn’t the only cryptocurrency showing a bullish setup; Stellar (XLM) also recently completed a buy setup, according to Martinez.

Currently, XRP is trading around $2.67, down 1% over the past week.

After the US President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China on Sunday, the market reaction was swift. Bitcoin’s price fell from $102,000 to $97,000, where it remained for most of the day. The downward trend continued into Monday, with a sudden drop of $6,000, sending Bitcoin’s value under $92,000—a $10,000 loss since Sunday.

Although Bitcoin has since recovered slightly to over $95,000, the market cap has fallen below $1.9 trillion. Despite this, Bitcoin’s dominance over altcoins has risen to nearly 59% on CoinGecko, representing a 3% increase in just one day.

Altcoins Take a Hit

The rise in Bitcoin’s dominance indicates a severe blow to altcoins. Ethereum, for instance, fell from over $3,000 to below $2,300 before stabilizing close to $2,600. Solana and Tron are among the few altcoins that experienced a single-digit percentage drop within the last 24 hours.

In contrast, BNB, XRP, DOGE, ADA, LINK, AVAX, XLM, TON, SUI, HBAR, and SHIB saw dramatic double-digit percentage declines, with ADA suffering the most significant loss—up to 23%.
