Famous American Internet Services provider Yahoo has announced that it is launching various activities of a metaverse in Hong Kong.
Officially Yahoo has planned to initiate the various activities in the Metaverse in Hong Kong. The purpose is to explore the immersive utilization of the advertising technologies.
The company announced a day after various meta platforms announced different plans to use Hong Kong as a testing ground.
According to the Yahoo announcement, the company will host virtual exhibitions and concerts. They will be hosting these events on the very famous Metaverse platform Decenterland. Also, they are planning to feature local artists and local idols. Along with the release of a restricted amount of Non- Fungible Tokens.
Furthermore, they are planning to feature the local artists and idols by realizing the limited number of NFTs.

Lorraine Cheung, head of the audience at Yahoo Hong Kong, stated that:
“Yahoo Hong Kong has always been providing a wide range of online services that are relevant to people’s daily lives, including using the latest technology to improve and enhance the user experience,”
In addition, Yahoo is launching the NFT exhibition known as “The Abyss of Kwun Tong”. This week, they are collaborating with the local creators. Also, Yahoo is collaborating with the local creators in Metaverse in Hong Kong.
The exhibition is about the iconic neighborhood of Hong Kong that has been drastically transformed by redevelopment projects.
Yahoo Inspiration for Creating the Metaverse in Hong Kong
Other Tech companies like South Korea’s Samsung electronics and Meta have also chosen Hong Kong as a testing ground to pursue the metaverse-related activities.
Speaking of the Metaverse, it is a virtual world where people are foreseen to socialize, trade, play and work in the future.
Meanwhile, the asset management arm of Samsung Electronics launched Hong Kong’s first exchange-traded fund (ETF) earlier this week, focusing on blockchain technology. Further, the move underpins the development of the metaverse.
According to the South China Morning Post, Amazon.com is also planning to establish its foothold in Hong Kong with its cloud computing business unit Amazon Web Services.
