Cryptocurrency addiction is real. The extreme market volatility and easy earning opportunities lure many investors to make quick bucks. With decentralized digital assets becoming increasingly popular, the number of people getting truly addicted to investing in cryptocurrencies is also increasing.
However, at a special clinic just 25 miles from Scotland’s capital city of Edinburgh, there’s a rehabilitation centre that’s promising to treat crypto addiction. The clinic’s website reads: “Castle Craig Hospital provides treatment for people addicted to trading, spread betting, and the trading of cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, litecoin, ethereum, and more.”
Not surprisingly, the hospital authorities have also confirmed that there has been a rise in the number of inquiries about getting treated for crypto addiction. In fact, the number of inquiries is now 10 times more than what they had since last year.
Are You Suffering From Cryptocurrency Addiction?
The clinic has diagnosed some pertinent symptoms common to those suffering from cryptocurrency addiction.
“Some of the symptoms that cryptocurrency users should look out for (suggesting an addiction) are: feeling muscle tension and anxiety, constantly checking the prices online (even in the middle of the night), and thinking about cryptocurrency trading when doing other things”, reads the clinic website.
The clinic has a 12-step program to help clients overcome their crypto obsession which often leads to irrecoverable financial losses. Crypto trading addiction is affecting many lives across the world and many are not even aware of the menace.
“Crypto trading diverges from gambling (and stock trading) through various characteristics including its 24 x 7 availability, its volatility, and the huge volume of social media that readily reinforces addicts’ out-of-control tendencies”, explains the centre’s director.
