Vodafone is all set to auction the world’s first NFT short message which reads “Merry Christmas.”
The Mobile phone telecommunications network services provider Vodafone is making its entry into the Non-Fungible Token (NFT) ecosystem.
According to the Romanian news agency Ziarul Financiar, the first Merry Christmas SMS was sent 29 years ago, on December 3, 1992. This Merry Christmas message will be up for the sale on December 21 at the Aguttes auction house in France. Further, the 15-characters SMS displays as a standalone piece known as one of the most important milestone innovations in the world. With the history of the 7-year innovation, this Merry Christmas message was sent to the Vodafone employee named Richard Jarvis at the company’s Christmas party. Further, the SMS extended to other networks beyond the Vodafone network.
Moreover, the successful buyer can make remuneration using Ethereum (ETH). The buyer can gain access to a unique replica of the original communication protocol that sent the world’s first SMS.
According to the reports, the company will give the amount of money from the Merry Christmas message to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). This gesture will help in supporting the forcibly displaced persons.
Moreover, the NFT growth in the past year has shocked many in terms of numbers. Global brands are also now entering the NFT space. Further, the most expensive NFT sale is still the Beeple’s ‘Everyday: The First 5000 Days’ collage.
In addition, a common trend in the space is the launch of NFT collections with Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC). This is arguably the most iconic NFT to date.
