Solana-Based Pump.fun Hits $15 Million Daily Revenue Amid Memecoin Craze

Date:

The Solana-based launchpad Pump.fun has kicked off 2025 with a bang, recording an impressive $15 million in daily revenue as the memecoin frenzy continues to dominate the crypto market. This surge underscores the growing popularity of memecoins, which have become one of the most profitable narratives in the current cycle, attracting millions of investors worldwide.

Pump.fun’s Record-Breaking Performance

Memecoins have been the standout trend of this cycle, with Solana-based tokens leading the charge throughout 2024. This momentum shows no signs of slowing down, as Pump.fun achieved a historic milestone on January 1st, 2025, solidifying its position as the go-to platform for memecoin creation and deployment.

In 2024, Pump.fun emerged as the most popular token launcher, simplifying the process of creating memecoins and outpacing Ethereum and other Solana protocols in terms of fees and revenue. The platform’s success has even sparked the creation of competitors like SunPump (Tron-based) and GraFun (multi-chain). Despite facing a ban in the UK in December, Pump.fun maintained steady performance, generating between 2 million and 3 million daily.

As of now, the platform has deployed 5.39 million tokens and generated over 2.02 million SOL in revenue, equivalent to $418.7 million. The launchpad’s latest achievement marks a new high, surpassing its previous records.

Dominance in Solana DEX Transactions

According to Dune AnalyticsPump.fun recorded 72,506 SOL (approximately $15 million) in daily revenue on January 1st, a 30% increase from the 55,000 SOL recorded in late November. The platform also dominated Solana decentralized exchange (DEX) transactions in December, accounting for 52.8% of all SOL DEX activity.

Criticism Amid Success

Despite its success, Pump.fun has faced significant criticism. In late 2024, the platform came under fire after users exploited its Livestream feature to broadcast harmful and controversial content. This included a viral incident where a 12-year-old livestreamed himself rug-pulling a memecoin, leading to backlash from the crypto community and the temporary suspension of the feature.

Additionally, on-chain data from Lookonchain revealed that Pump.fun deposited 355,608 SOL to Kraken in a single day, bringing the total tokens sent to the exchange to 1,564,064 SOL. This move sparked comparisons to the Ethereum Foundation, further fueling criticism.

Memecoin Market Continues to Thrive

The memecoin sector remains a dominant force in the crypto market. The “Solana Meme” category on CoinGecko saw a 12.5% increase in market capitalization, reaching $20.9 billion in the last 24 hours. Newer tokens like ai16z (AI16Z) and Fartcoin (FARTCOIN) have also gained traction, with daily surges of 8.9% and 43.7%, respectively, hitting new all-time highs (ATHs) on January 2nd.

As the memecoin mania shows no signs of slowing down, Pump.fun continues to lead the charge, setting new benchmarks and reshaping the crypto landscape.
