Strategy co-founder, Michael Saylor, has publicly voiced his desire to address the topic of Bitcoin on the globally-renowned podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.
In a tweet dated May 31, Saylor responded to a fan account of Joe Rogan asking, “Who’s one guest you’d love to see Joe Rogan interview that he hasn’t had on yet?” by tweeting, “Hey @joerogan, let’s talk about Bitcoin.”
This announcement generated considerable buzz within the Bitcoin community. A well-known Bitcoin enthusiast, The Bitcoin Therapist, expressed, “This interview will shatter the internet.” Crypto analyst Kook, with a substantial following of 164,200, predicted that “Saylor is going to Bitcoin pill Joe Rogan.” At the same time, crypto commentator Brandon MacDougal stated, “For the first time ever, I’ll be watching a Joe Rogan podcast if Saylor is there.”
Joe Rogan has often spoken about crypto and Bitcoin on his podcast, expressing pro-Bitcoin sentiments on several occasions. In an October 2023 episode with OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman, Rogan admitted his fascination with Bitcoin, calling it the “most fascinating crypto.”
Despite Rogan’s silence on Saylor’s proposal, featuring a guest from the Bitcoin industry wouldn’t be a first for him. In the early days of Bitcoin, Rogan lent his platform to the topic. From 2014 to 2016, Bitcoin entrepreneur Andreas Antonopoulos graced Joe Rogan’s podcast multiple times when Bitcoin was still valued below $1,000.
Saylor’s company, Strategy, currently holds 580,250 Bitcoin, equating to a value of $60.47 billion, as per the Saylor Tracker. On May 10, Saylor shared his thoughts on why Bitcoin’s price hasn’t hit $150,000 yet, attributing it to short-term holders selling off and a new wave of investors entering the market.
“I think we’re going through a rotation right now,” Saylor commented on the Coin Stories podcast with Natalie Brunell on May 9.
