The latest news from Coindar reveals that Rocket Pool has rolled out an upgrade to its Smart Node software, bringing the version to 1.17.0. The updated software suggests that node operators should disregard any manual gas block limit values under 45 million and instead adopt higher client defaults. This adjustment is consistent with the ongoing developments in Ethereum, where nearly half of the stake is currently voting to increase the Layer 1 gas limit to 45 million.
Rocket Pool (RPL) is a unique decentralized staking protocol developed for Ethereum 2.0. The protocol differs from traditional staking pools as it aims to build a more decentralized and robust staking infrastructure for Ethereum. To run a validator, Ethereum 2.0 requires 32 ETH. Rocket Pool accommodates users by allowing staking with significantly smaller amounts, achieved by pooling resources from multiple participants.
Participants in Rocket Pool are divided into two categories: “nodes” and regular users. Regular users can delegate their ETH without the need to manage infrastructure, while nodes are charged with the task of ensuring the validators operate effectively. Users who delegate their ETH to Rocket Pool are rewarded with rETH tokens that represent their stake in the pool and can be traded on external markets.
The Rocket Pool protocol utilizes its native token, RPL, as a collateral mechanism for nodes and a means to encourage the network’s proper functioning. Nodes must hold RPL as collateral to guarantee their truthful operation and to offset potential risks to users who delegate their ETH.
