It’s official: Binance Coin will be hosting its first-ever hackathon series, BNB Hack, starting June 11. The announcement came from BNB Chain, the ecosystem that supports the native Binance Coin (BNB).
The hackathon will feature specific tracks for AI, DePIN (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure), DeSci (Decentralized Science), and DeSoc (Decentralized Society). The goal of this initiative is to drive innovation within sectors constructed on the BNB Chain. The opening ceremony is set for June 11 at 12 PM UTC and will be broadcasted live on YouTube.
BNB, the powerhouse behind the BNB Chain ecosystem, is used for a multitude of purposes. It provides reduced trading fees on the Binance exchange and pays for transaction fees on both the BNB Beacon Chain and BNB Smart Chain. It also plays a role in games and DApps within the BNB Chain ecosystem, participates in token sales on the Binance Launchpad, and provides liquidity on Binance Liquid Swap. BNB is even applicable to real-world uses, like online shopping, in-store purchases, and travel bookings via platforms such as Travala.com.
Since September 2020, when the BNB Smart Chain was introduced, BNB has been available in three forms: BNB BEP-2 on the BNB Beacon Chain, BNB BEP-20 on the BNB Smart Chain, and BNB ERC-20 on the Ethereum network.
