Michael Saylor, the co-founder of the Bitcoin BTCUSD treasury firm MicroStrategy, has signaled another Bitcoin buy as the price of BTC hovers close to $66,000. Saylor’s focus on Bitcoin buy strategies has been unwavering, even amidst market volatility.
MicroStrategy’s Consistent Bitcoin Buy Strategy
As Bitcoin’s price remains near $66K, Saylor announced MicroStrategy’s intent to increase its Bitcoin holdings. This move follows a significant purchase in February when the company acquired 3,015 BTC for over $204 million, bringing its total holdings to 720,737 BTC, valued at about $48.1 billion at the time.
Despite Bitcoin trading below MicroStrategy’s average purchase cost of approximately $75,985 per BTC, Saylor remains committed to accumulating Bitcoin through debt and equity financing. This strategy persists even during a downturn in net asset values (NAVs) for treasury companies.
Market Dynamics and Treasury Strategies
The digital asset treasury landscape might see consolidation by 2026. According to Wojciech Kaszycki, chief strategy officer at BTCS, companies with cash-generating operations may acquire treasury firms that focus solely on Bitcoin accumulation.
Saylor, however, is cautious about acquisitions, citing financial uncertainties as a deterrent from buying distressed BTC treasury companies. He emphasizes the potential pitfalls of mergers and acquisitions, noting they can become less appealing over time.
Expert Opinions and Market Predictions
Experts believe that consolidating with other market players could lead to rapid growth, as companies struggle with trading below net asset value. Crypto treasury firms have the potential to offer various services, such as blockchain validation, cryptocurrency mining, and credit instruments.
Saylor’s strategy of focusing on Bitcoin buy and hold remains a key part of MicroStrategy’s business model, reflecting a strong belief in Bitcoin’s long-term value.
