This page explains what information CryptoUpdate.io collects when you use the site, which outside services receive data from your browser, and how to contact us about your data. It describes how the site is actually set up today. If the setup changes, we will update this page and the date above.
Questions or requests about your data: [email protected].
Reading the site
You can read every article without an account. Like any website, our web server records technical request data in its logs: your IP address, the page requested, the time, the referring page and your browser’s user-agent string. We use these logs to run and secure the site (for example to detect abuse and errors).
Analytics
We use two analytics services to understand which pages are read and how people find the site:
- Google Analytics 4 (Google). It sets first-party cookies such as
_gaand_ga_*to count visits and pages viewed. Google’s display advertising features are enabled in our setup, which allows Google to use its own advertising cookies for reporting on audiences. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. - Yandex Metrica (Yandex). It sets cookies such as
_ym_uidand_ym_d. In our setup it also records click maps, outbound link clicks and session replay (“Webvisor”), which captures how pages are scrolled and clicked. See the Yandex privacy policy and the Yandex Metrica opt-out.
Email subscription form
If you enter your email address in a “Subscribe” form, the address is stored in our website database as a subscriber record. To have it removed, email us from that address or tell us which address to delete.
Comments
If you leave a comment, we store the name, email address and website you enter, the comment text, your IP address and your browser’s user-agent string. The comment form uses two outside services to block spam:
- Google reCAPTCHA, which loads a script from Google on pages with a comment form. Its use is subject to Google’s privacy policy and terms.
- Akismet (Automattic), which receives the comment data listed above to check it for spam. See the Automattic privacy policy.
Comment avatars are loaded from Gravatar (Automattic). To show one, a hashed version of the commenter’s email address is sent to Gravatar. If you tick the box to save your details, WordPress stores your name, email and website in cookies (comment_author_*) on your device so you don’t have to type them again.
Accounts
The site has a login/register page. If you create an account, we store your username, email address and an encrypted (hashed) password, and WordPress sets login cookies (wordpress_*, wordpress_logged_in_*) while you are logged in.
Other cookies
cna_tg_cta: set when you close the pop-up inviting you to our Telegram channel, so it is not shown again.- Advertising and affiliate partners (see below) may set their own cookies when their banners load or when you click their links.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them, although the comment form may then not remember your details.
Content loaded from other services
When you open a page, your browser also connects to these services, which therefore receive your IP address and browser information:
- Bunny.net (cryptoupdate.b-cdn.net), the content delivery network that serves our images and files. See the bunny.net privacy policy.
- Google Fonts, which serves the fonts used by our theme.
- Advertising banners for payment services (for example Skrill and Neteller), served by those partners’ ad servers. Clicks are tracked by the partner.
Affiliate links
Some articles contain affiliate links, for example to the Gate.com exchange. If you click one, the partner can see that you came from our site and may set its own cookies; if you sign up, we may earn a commission. These links are marked rel="sponsored" and disclosed in the article. What happens on the partner’s site is governed by that partner’s own privacy policy.
Sharing buttons and Telegram
The share buttons under articles (Facebook, X/Twitter, Pinterest, WhatsApp) are plain links: nothing is sent to those networks unless you click one. The same applies to links to our Telegram channel.
Your requests
You can ask us at [email protected] to tell you what we hold about you (comments, subscriber record, account), to correct it or to delete it. Please write from the email address concerned, or include enough detail for us to find the record. Data held by Google, Yandex, Automattic or our advertising partners has to be managed with those companies using the links above.
