In the last 24 hours, the Solana Blockchain was struck by a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS). However, the online network stayed uncorrupted.
This is not the first time Solana has experienced this problem. It was reported in September that the SOL network underwent a 17-hour outage. This was due to a mass botting activity for an IDO, an initial DEX offering.
Latest Solana DDoS Attack
The most recent DDoS attack came into light through the NFT platform Blockasset in SOL on December 9 around 3 pm UTC.
The SOL infrastructure firm GenesysGo also highlighted the matter, expressing that the validator network was encountering some transaction request processing problems.
Although the nature of the attack still remains unknown, as the Solana foundation is yet to confirm any attacks. The Status.Solana displays no network issues in the present and is fully functional.
Declining Effects of the DDoS Attack
Many accounts on Twitter also mentioned the global outage that SOL recently suffered. Roy Murphy, Verbit CEO, stated, “Solana has crashed again and is currently offline.”
Earlier today, r/SOL subreddit members attributed the subject of network clogging to IDO (initial DEX offering) next launch on Raydium. They stated that their biggest concern lies over SOL right now is its performance during high volume activity during the Raydium IDOs and Launches. They also said that every single outage was due to the Raydium launch.
According to recent news, the price of SOL has gone down 6.4% in the span of 24 hours and sits at $176.73 at the time of writing. With the recent DDoS Attacks, many top crypto assets pulled back, and SOL has fallen 26.1% in the last month.
