Emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain, are beginning to reshape the traditional education landscape by enhancing the access to education via alternative credentialing systems and AI-driven content. John von Seggern, a pioneer in online education and founder of Futureproof Music School, an online institution that educates students on electronic music production, currently harnesses the power of an AI assistant to structure and enrich his courses.
Von Seggern disclosed to Cointelegraph his intention to launch blockchain-verified credentials for those who successfully finish the educational programs. These credentials serve as verifiable evidence of the students’ completion of the programs and their substantial comprehension of the curriculum.
“I experienced many challenges while securing the accreditation for my previous school,” he shared with Cointelegraph. A report from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) indicates a growing global momentum for harnessing blockchain technology for the issuance, sharing, and verification of educational experiences and qualifications. The report authors highlighted that blockchain technology allows anyone to verify claims about an individual or institution, including their attributes and qualifications, instantly and with a high level of certainty.
“This technology drastically reduces records fraud, simplifies the transition of learners and workers between institutions and countries, and empowers individuals by providing them with more control over their data,” the report further elaborated. Analysts predict that the amalgamation of AI and blockchain has the potential to revolutionize sectors such as education, healthcare, and content creation.
Several other crypto projects are utilizing the combination of AI and blockchain for educational purposes. Blockchain credentials, when paired with AI-driven content, offer students globally verifiable and cost-effective classes. Earlier this year, Open Campus, a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) that employs blockchain for educational applications, unveiled its layer-3 blockchain, EDU Chain.
EDU Chain will be used to store tamper-resistant, immutable, and verifiable student credentials and certificates on the blockchain. At the Token2049 event in Dubai, UAE, Binance co-founder CZ expressed his aspiration to educate 1 billion children through Giggle Academy, a free online education platform. CZ emphasized that generative AI played a pivotal role in developing the course content for his Giggle Academy initiative.
