The shoe and apparel gigantic, Nike, is growing its metaverse footprint. Finally!
Nike is ready to take its next step into the metaverse. The team announced today that it had purchased RTFKT Studios. This digital art studio focuses on sneaker-themed non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and collectibles utilizing the Ethereum blockchain.
Also, Nike President and CEO John Donahoe said that we’re acquiring a very competent team of creators with a genuine and connected brand. Further, he said our plan is to invest in the RTFKT brand. We want to grow and serve this innovative and creative community to extend Nike’s digital footprint and capabilities.
Moreover, this acquirement will steadfastly move the company into blockchain-based branding and the metaverse. Also, this version of the sneaker will blend the internet and augmented reality with traditional computing.
In November, this shoe and apparel company launched the NIKELAND by co-operating with Roblox for a captivating 3D world. Further, Nike submitted four filing requests to trademark virtual goods with the Trademark Office and U.S. Patent in the same month.
In addition, Nike won’t be the only shoe and apparel brand investing in the metaverse. At the start of this month, Adidas announced it had bought a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT for 46 ETH. Therefore, Adidas is collaborating with Bored Ape creators Yuga Labs and others to enter the metaverse.
